A UX concept journey for custom Mizuhiki

Overview
During the pandemic I started making Mizuhiki. A traditional Japanese craft using corded paper to make different knots for ceremonies.
Whilst making Mizuhiki, I wondered if there were services available to make customised colors and styles.

To my surprise there wasn't as I believe it makes as a wonderful addition to cards, gifts and as souvenirs to foreigners visiting Japan as well. I decided to create a simple app / platform for users to make their own Mizuhiki. This is still a work in progress.

Sketches
Here are the first initial sketches of the proposed application.
I opted for simplicity and experimented with adding a step by step bar located on the top of the page as often seen on websites.

After some simple testing and research, I quickly decided not to include the bar on the top as it took up too much space on the app and made the flow of the creation steps feel more constricted.

Initial Designs
I tried to materialize the initial concept sketches to a more tangible flow and structure.
I'll continue to develop this idea.
